Tunnel Vision EP

by Mick Finesse

Mick Finesse is a DJ/producer/promoter based in Denver, USA. His excellent warm-up set for Perc at his own Freq Boutique event in Denver brought him to Perc Trax’s attention and finally his debut EP is ready to drop.

His sound is an abstract take on current European techno, mixing soundtrack influences with tracky, clanking rhythms and even nods to the broken beats of UK garage and dubstep. From the b-movie darkness of opener ‘Seditation Chamber’ to the widescreen Aphex-tinged pads of ‘The Vision’ Mick covers a lot of ground across these four tracks.

Closing the EP are two remixes of ‘They Sex Machinas’ by label head Perc. For once in his life Perc does the sensible thing and instead of trying to out-abstract Mick, he drags ‘They Sex Machinas’ kicking and screaming to the dancefloor, serving up two slices of industrial-tinged main room techno, the kind of which will become increasingly rare from Perc as he continues to sail into more experimental waters as we move into 2012.
